payment reschedule or cancel pmp exam

I regularly receive emails from PMP aspirants asking if they have to pay any extra fees to reschedule or cancel their PMP exam.

This is one of the most frequently asked questions because many aspirants regularly need to reschedule or cancel the exam and they want to know the PMP exam change fee.

The short answer is: it depends.

It depends on when you want to reschedule or cancel the exam. You will not be charged if you reschedule or cancel the exam at least 30 days before the scheduled date.

The PMI will charge you a 70 USD fee if you decide to change your PMP exam appointment within 30 days of your date.

However, your full exam fee will be forfeited if you decide to cancel or reschedule the exam within two days of the appointment; there is no refund in this case.

There are some circumstances, which may force you to miss the exam, reschedule or cancel it, such as a medical emergency, natural disaster, or death of a family member. These conditions are known as extenuating circumstances.

The PMI understands extenuating circumstances may cause you to reschedule or cancel the exam within 30 days, or you might miss the exam entirely. In such cases, you can pay the 70 USD fine, and later you can reclaim the money by submitting the proper documents to the PMI.

Please note that the PMI decides to refund for extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis. You will get a full refund if your case is approved; you will not get any refund if it is rejected and you must pay the full fee when you apply the next time.

Summary

You can change or cancel your exam date at any time. However, you may end up paying a fee as a fine or the whole fee depending on when you do. If there are some extenuating circumstances, which are beyond your control, under which you are allowed to claim the full refund and cancel the exam at any time, but they are subject to PMI approval on a case-by-case basis. Do your best to avoid any issues t and aim to pass your PMP exam on your first try.
