review greycampus 35 contact hours training program

Note: This course is no longer available.

Today I have updated my review of GreyCampus’s online 35 contact hours PMP training program.

This was my first review that helped many PMP aspirants make an informed decision about the course. Now GreyCampus has updated their course to align with the 6th edition of the PMBOK Guide, so I am reviewing their course again.

What is a 35 Contact Hours Training Program?

If you want to apply for the PMP exam, you must fulfill three eligibility requirements:

  1. You must be a diploma or a degree holder.
  2. You should have project management experience.
  3. You must attend a 35 contact hours training program.

Attending a 35 contact hours training program in project management is a requirement to apply for the PMP exam. This training program should teach you project management fundamentals covering the PMBOK Guide.

You can get the training through any provider; however, I recommend you join one from a PMI approved REP. REP stands for Registered Education Provider.

In the past, very few REPs were providing classroom training. These days, you can find many training providers with different modes of teaching.

Online training programs are more popular than any other program. They are much cheaper, more flexible, and allow you to complete the training from your home and at your own pace.

I recommend that you only receive online training from a PMI approved online training provider.

My Experience

I went through the course to review this training program, attempted the quizzes at the end of the chapters, and tried the mock tests. I will now share with you my hands-on experience.

After logging in, you will see the main dashboard which is modern and simple to use.

Here you can see the following modules:

  • Study plan
  • Tests
  • Practice
  • Health check
  • Value adds
  • Activity

The study plan has video sessions. You can watch them with a single click.

The tests module has three mock tests. After completing the video sessions, you can try them.

Under the practice module, you can test your understanding after viewing the sessions.

A health check shows your performance based on your practice and tests.

The value adds module has flashcards, PowerPoint slides, notes, a PMP cheat sheet, a list of PMP formulas, and more.

I reviewed their PowerPoint files and they are the same files used during the training sessions. Once you have gone through the training, be sure to review these to refresh your memory.

You will find flashcards useful for your studies.

In the activity module, you can see your activities and notes and you can provide feedback to GreyCampus.

Course Content

The video sessions explain all concepts well.

I have seen courses where instructors read the slides and move on. This is not the case here. The instructor explains each slide well, his voice is clear, and the video quality is good.

After completing the video sessions you can attempt the practice questions.

The content and question quality is good. These questions help you check your understanding of the session you just completed.

Mock Tests

Once you click on the mock test, it asks you to eliminate any distractions. They set the test duration to four hours, and you can see the timer throughout the exam.

I attempted many questions from the mock test and I can say that:

  1. The questions are unique; I did not see any duplicates.
  2. It is a good mix of one-line, lengthy, and situation-based questions.
  3. The difficulty level is medium to high.
  4. For many questions, the choices are confusing.

The mock tests are made of high-quality questions. You can use them to find your weak areas, and work to improve them.

Here you can check your performance.

Pros and Cons

Now let’s discuss the pros and cons of this course.

Con #1: Module Information

The module duration should be mentioned in the dashboard. This is not a significant concern, but having it would improve the user experience.

I hope GreyCampus will add the duration of the video sessions to the dashboard.

Con #2: Session Length

For the most part, the duration of the video sessions is ten minutes or less, and a few are around 20 minutes. I feel 20 minutes is long and you might feel compelled to finish the video in one sitting because you don’t want to leave it unfinished.

In today’s fast-paced world, watching a course video for over ten minutes is not comfortable. You may feel bored or become distracted.

I hope that GreyCampus breaks these sessions into smaller durations. Dividing a session up into smaller parts makes it easier to watch and you can understand the concepts better.

I have seen another popular online course whose sessions are around 30 minutes, so I think GreyCampus is better. However, there is still room for improvement.

Con #3: Course Price

The price of the course is 300 USD, which is high. However, you can use my discount coupon code “PMSC” to get it for half the cost. This makes it an affordable course for you.

Now let’s look at the pros.

Pro #1: Navigation

The navigation is modern, simple, and very easy to use. You can access all the information, the course, and other resources such as flashcards and slides from one window.

Pro #2: Content Quality

The content quality is good. The course has 18 modules that contain the PMBOK Guide’s chapters.

The voice and video quality are both good.

Pro #3: Access Mode

The course is 100% online and you don’t have to download anything. You can join from any location and complete the course at your own pace.

Once you complete the course, you can download the 35 contact hours certification from your dashboard.

Pro #4: Access Duration

You will get one year of access to this course. One year is more than enough time to complete it.

Pro #5: Refund Policy

This program comes with a 100% money-back guarantee. If you did not like the course, you can ask for a refund within seven days of purchase, provided you did not complete over 30% of the course.

Pro #6: Mock Tests

This course provides you with three mock tests. You can consider them to be a bonus; you will rarely see this elsewhere.

You can test yourself, find your weak spots, and work on them to improve your performance.

Pro #7: Other Resources

Other resources include flashcards, downloadable slides, and templates. These are valuable tools that you can use to prepare for the exam. You can print out the slides and use them as brain dumps.

How to Get the Most Out of the Training

I recommend that you read a good PMP exam reference book and the PMBOK Guide before starting the training sessions. This will help you during the sessions.

Keep reference books handy while watching the sessions so you can refer to them whenever you need to.

Use the flashcards and ITTO games whenever you are free. Practicing them will help you keep the facts in your mind.

My Recommendation

I have gone through almost the entire course and attempted a mock test for this review, and I can say that it is a good course for PMP exam training. So, if you are looking for a 35 contact hours training program, you can use GreyCampus.

This program gives you the longest online access and provides you with three simulated PMP tests.
