The PMI provides a facility to check the status of PMI certification on their registry. So, anyone can check the status of the PMP or any other credential online from the PMI registry. The PMI registry is an online directory of PMI credential holders. You can search this data for your PMP verification or anyone else’s.
This useful feature allows employers to verify PMP certification for candidates online.
Apart from PMP, you can see all certification holders’ credentials. You don’t have to repeat the search for all credentials. It is the only place to verify the authenticity of the PMI credential.
If you are in a hurry, below is the direct link for the PMI registry; you can verify your PMP credential:
You can check the status of any PMI credential holder unless they have opted out from the registry. This registry shows the complete name of the credential holder and their credentials. You cannot see other details, such as the credential expiration date and number.
Let’s now see how to use the PMI registry for PMP verification.
Step-by-Step Guide to Check PMI Registry for PMP Verification
Visit PMI.org, and hover our mouse over the “Certifications” tab as shown in the below image:
Then click on “Certification Registry.”
Now, you will see two fields to enter the credential holder’s name and two drop-downs to select the country and credentials.
You can enter the details and click on search.
As an example, I have entered my details, and you can see the results below:
You can see my details in the above image. It shows my name, country, and my credentials.
You can see that I passed the PMP in December 2010 and PMI-RMP in April 2012.
You can also check the status of a credential holder in a certain country.
For example, in the above image, the total PMPs in Kuwait are 3110.
How Often is the PMI Registry Updated?
This registry is always being updated. When I passed my certifications, I saw my name the next day both times. But these days, PMI takes around one week to update the credential information. So, if you have passed the PMP exam today, expect to see your name within one working week unless you opt-out.
Contact PMI customer care if you don’t see your name in the registry even after one week.
[Please note that PMI customer care is different for each geographic location. You should contact customer care for your region.]
PMI Registry Benefits
PMI Registry benefits include:
- You can check your credential status.
- Your colleagues can search your PMP status.
- Recruiters can check the credential status of candidates.
- You can see the PMP credential holders in a particular country.
- No one can claim fake PMI credentials.
PMI Registry Cons

Summary
PMI Registry is the only place to verify PMP or any other PMI credential. This facility is useful for employers to verify whether the applicants’ credentials are genuine and avoid applicants claiming fake PMI credentials.
I am Mohammad Fahad Usmani, B.E. PMP, PMI-RMP. I have been blogging on project management topics since 2011. To date, thousands of professionals have passed the PMP exam using my resources.
For my PMP and RMP it took about 24 hours to get the congratulatory email. Passed my ACP yesterday but haven’t received anything yet.
Some times it takes a few days. I would suggest you wait for at least one week and then contact PMI customer care.
Dear Usman,
Aslam O Alikum,
Same issues as above i managed to pass my PMP exam on 5th of Jan 16, it has been more than 5 days but congrats email nor registry update from PMI. This make me nervous. I called the local chapter to inquire that are the pro metric results full and final. Like I got a printed note from the pro metric showing the PMP result as Pass.
Is this ok or is there any thing to worry about?
Umair Aslam Lahore.
If it is not yet updated, contact PMI customer care.
Fahad:
I have the same issue. passes the PMP 4 days ago and nothing, no congratulations email, no change to my profile and no addition to the registry. I also sent an email to [email protected] and never got a reply. I then called 610-356-4600, was on hold for 5 minutes. Finally I got a hold of a rep and they said they are weeks behind in their queue. From what I sense is they are very under staffed at the moment.
Thank James for sharing this info, I believe this will help other professionals who have passed the exam and waiting for the email.
Hi Fahad
I was following your blog for quite sometime . Today I took the PMP exam and passed in first attempt.
In my case the time expired as soon as I finished answering the 200th question. I got a dialog button In which time out mesg was there. As soon as I pressed it the system rebooted . I think this is a bug in PMI/Prometric software as I can see some others also faced the same issue . I panicked at that time thinking that my data may not be captured . I called the support guy . He asked to me wait more minutes . Nothing happened . I panicked more . Then I went upto the helpdesk . The support guy then took me to another system . Did something . After that the feedback page reappered and later I got the msg that I have cleared the exam .
Hopefully I should get the confirmation mail from PMI.

Congratulations Misbah for passing the exam and I hope you will not stop visiting my blog.
Regarding rebooting after submission, it happens with everyone that once you click the submit button, it reboots. I have also experienced it.
Hi Fahad,
I cleared my CAPM exam last saturday, will i get a mail from PMI confirming the same? also will the name refelect in online certification registry?
Sometimes it takes time to receive the mail. I suggest you check online registry now.
And congratulations for passing the CAPM exam.
Hello Manash,
You still have two attempts left with you to pass the exam.
1) If your eligibility period is not expired, you don’t have to update your application form; i.e. no need to add your experience in your application from October to till date.
2) Did you mean audit? No, as per my knowledge, you are not going to audit when you reapply for the exam.
Good luck for your exam.
I passed my PMP about 24 hours back and still didn’t receive any email from PMI. I am not seeing any status update on my account either.
I will wait for few more days before calling them.
Just wait for couple of more days. Hope you will receive email from PMI shortly
HI Fahad,

Hello Ali, congratulations for passing the PMP exam. Regarding the PMI registry, I think that it is not yet updated because of holidays. Hope within couple of days you would be able to see your name there.
No, you can not print your certificate; however, you can print your exam test report. You will get your hard certificate within six week. And as per my best knowledge you can not fast track the delivery process.
Anyway, just contact the PMI customer care and keep hope alive.
Dear Fahad,
I do not wish to show my name in this search https://certification.pmi.org/registry.aspx
I have cleared my PMP today and for sometime need to keep low profile at work.
I understand that there is a way to opt out of displaying my name in the registry.
But not sure how to go about it.
Can you help me with this.
Hello Shibu, Congratulations for passing the PMP exam.
You can safely remove your name from the PMI Online Certification Registry once your name starts appearing there.
Steps are as follows:
Login to you account => Click on “My Profile” => Click on “My certification info” => Click “Edit Registry Options”
Now, from here you can remove your name from PMI Online Certification Registry.
Hope it helps.
I have 2 questions.
1) when can I get my paper based pmp
2) benefits of rmp alongwith pmp
thanks
1) Read the PMP Handbook.
2) It gives more in-depth knowledge on risk management, and gives you confidence. I also see that for many risk management opening employers are asking for the PMI-RMP certification.
