Master of Project Academy’s PMP Training program provides 35 contact hours for students who want to take the PMP certification exam.

Review Summary: I have used this training program for some time to test its quality, features, content, and user interface, and I am not impressed with it. The content quality is average, and the program is too costly. You can find many better quality training programs at a lower price and for longer access, which I will show at the end of this review post.

Who Am I?

I am Fahad Usmani. This is my blog, where you can read this review post on the Master of Project Academy PMP Course. I write on topics related to the PMP exam and project management on this blog. I often publish reviews of project management courses and products.

I publish product reviews only after thoroughly using them and testing all features. The program creator often provides me with free access to test the features. However, all my reviews are unbiased, and my observations and recommendations are purely mine.

However, I did not get free access to the Master of Project Academy (MOPA) program for this review. Though I tried to subscribe to the course, I saw that the Master of Project Academy provides free access to the program to test the program. So, I subscribed to it to test its functionality.

Let us start the review of the PMP Training Program from the Master of Project Academy, but before that, we will have a background summary of the Master of Project Academy.

What is Master of Project Academy?

Master of Project Academy was established in 2012 by Mr. Resit Gulec. Initially, he offered his PMP course on Udemy, but later, he launched his school on the Teachable Platform. Now, they offer hundreds of similar courses with minor differences to attract their audience.

They are investing heavily in marketing and advertising, and you might see their ads on Google Search and Facebook. They also hired SEO professionals to get high rankings on Google for their products and blog posts.

I have reviewed most of their posts, and they are all filled with fluff, unnecessary, irrelevant content, and marketing material. On their site, they claimed that 99.6% of their 348,114 (as of March 27, 2024) students passed the test on their first attempt.

mopa false claim
mopa false claim 2

This is a bogus claim, and you must not trust it. I also sell courses and can tell you that over 30% of students do not complete them, and their course access expires.

Half of them completed the course but never attempted the PMP exam. Around 40% of students attempt the exam, and 60% of aspirants pass it on their first attempt. Also, whoever passes the PMP exam rarely informs the trainer that they have passed. Less than 5% of professionals thank the trainer for their support.

So, you can calculate the percentage of students who pass the exam for any PMP training provider. If any trainer says their passing rate is over 90%, they are not providing the correct figure.

Anyway, let us move on to the product review of Master of Project Academy’s PMP training program.

In-Depth Product Review

This product has the following key features:

  • 300+ video sessions
  • 750+ practice questions
  • Downloadable resources (e.g., flashcards, cheat sheets, etc.)
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

You may feel that the program offers many features, considering the 750 questions, but this is a false illusion. You need at least 3-6 months of preparation. You must pay around 600 USD for this duration, which is too expensive for a low-quality training program and mediocre questions.

My Experience with the Product

As soon as I opened the Master of Project Academy website, I saw the following page:

master of project home page with lot of popups
I have blurred the text of images to avoid copyright violation issues.

I saw a coupon immediately to purchase their course, and as I was about to leave, another popup offered free courses. So, you can see three promotional elements on the page: one above the header and two in forms on popups.

Anyway, I subscribed to the program, which was easy. If you are buying, you only need to enter your credit card information and email ID, and you are done. The PayPal payment option is missing, which is a big drawback. Over 50% of buyers in my online school prefer to pay with PayPal instead of a credit card.

After logging into your dashboard, you will see the following interface:

master of project dashboard with a lot of popups

After closing many marketing popups, you will see the dashboard.

master of project course page

The interface is modern and simple, and there is no learning curve. You can start learning immediately after the payment.

You only have to click on the “start” button to start the lessons. The screenshot below shows the course video player.

mopa course introduction video

You can make it full-screen and reduce the player’s size.

The course is in English, but you can select subtitles in eight languages, as below:

  1. Deutsch
  2. English
  3. Espanol
  4. French
  5. Portuguese
  6. Arabic
  7. Hindi
  8. Bangali

After reviewing the video, I tested the questions and found that the quality was not good.

Master of Project Academy provides presentations in PDF format for you to download and refer to later. I find this feature useful, as you won’t have access to the course once you stop the payment, but you can refer to notes to remember concepts.

Only the first slide is presented by their head of learning development, Briana, and the rest are PowerPoint shows with AI voiceovers. The voice quality is good, but the content depth is average.

MOPA’s course content is not interactive and lacks real-life project management experience and examples.

Every lesson ends with an exercise to remind students of the concepts.

Now, we come to their exam simulator.

This is the worst simulator, and I was shocked to see it. Due to copyright issues, I cannot share the questions, but it is essentially a one-page MS Word document, with all questions listed one below the other. It is not a simulator, just a webpage with all the questions in text format.

mopa question simulator

Master of Project Academy uses Teachable for its school, and Teachable provides many options for designing an exam simulator. Still, they have opted for something that I could have never imagined: a simple webpage with all the questions listed on it.

This simulator is not qualified to be called a simulator.

Pros & Cons

Let’s start with the pros.

Pros:

  • 100% Online
  • Downloadable resources
  • Modern user interface

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Average content quality
  • Fluffy content

Pricing and Value

The price is 99 USD per month or 547 USD for a yearly plan. Again, I am not showing the pricing page image to avoid a copyright issue.

You will need program access for 3-6 months, which converts to 297-594 USD. This cost is too high, considering you can get high-quality, popular courses at a lower price point. Although you can get a 35% discount, the price is still high, and you will waste your time on an average-quality course that may demotivate you and cause you to lose interest in the exam.

The course does not provide the value for the money it asks for, and sometimes, it tricks users into overpayment.

The screenshot below shows a complaint from a user who did not realize the recurring payment plan and ended up paying more.

Customer Support

I have experienced their customer care support, and it is not good. Initially, I promoted this course on my blog, but after receiving multiple complaints, I stopped promoting it. During the promotion period, I earned some commission, and as soon as I reduced the links to their course, they held my commission, which I had earned.

They said they wouldn’t pay me until I started promoting their course again. I denied this, and they never paid me.

Regarding support for the courses, I see that they offer hundreds of courses, and I don’t think offering high-quality support for all of them is possible. Support is poor and seems to come from regular support staff rather than experts.

Recommendation

I have used this PMP training program and experienced the user interface and course content. After spending considerable time on this course, I have concluded that it is not suitable for your training. Avoid it and use popular, established, reasonably priced courses to earn your contact hours instead.
